Not sure if they already do an all electric EV but this is on their Irish website.

Looks like they already have an electric Focus in the states. Maybe an announcement of it's launch here?

    Will know more on Friday.

Announcement this Friday. Probably the Focus EV alright. 143BHP, 0-100 in 11s, 33.5kWh, EPA range 185km (eGolf and Ioniq have 200km). On the expensive side in the UK at GBP32k - a grand more than the eGolf. No wonder it ain't selling. Ford will have to make it better value here unless they are only paying eco lip service...

It's great seeing more manufacturers releasing EVs. It seems to be nomalising EVs. It'll hopefully become another option alongside petrol and diesel for most/all models. (Before they start getting phased out :-))

Although you get the feeling some are only doing it because everyone else is.

Saw couple of reviews of the new ford EV from usual suspects on YouTube, general vibe I got is that Golf is better. Ioniq is probably better than Golf in many ways. Still very little choice in the market but changing quickly.

+1 and I genuinely feel a momentum has been building in this country since the 172 reg plates came on. I notice it in the people I talk to as well, there has been a shift in attitudes since the start of this year. All the talk about cancerous polluting & cheating diesels, car shows with nothing but EV (and hybrid) news, many more car ads about hybrids and EVs and manufacturers announcing they'll soon stop diesel and be 100% EV or hybrid. All sorts of governments abroad announcing the end of the ICE, bans or heavy fines for diesels entering city centres abroad. It all helps.

What makes you say that? I own an Ioniq and as a human being I probably have some owners bias (thinking everything you own is better than it is :p) but I'd say the Golf is the better EV in every way apart from value for money to buy it

Personal opinion really, and probably not the most well informed either. I would think Ioniq is better because 1) it's cheaper 2) bigger car with more flexible seat / boot space with rear seats folded down. While e-Golf has bigger battery and range, and probably better built as well, Ioniq has more toys as standard where even adaptive cruise control is an upgrade in e-Golf.

I am not really worred about the whole 'Diesel Gate' or how some folks prefers anything 'German' over anything 'Korean' etc, but Mrs P thinks Golf looks very dated - she obviously doesn't care much about Golf/911 design phylosophy of timeless classic or whatever. :D

I doubt this is a new EV; I suspect it’s a scrappage scheme similar to VW’s EcoGrant or similar offers from BMW and Mercedes.

The idea is that you trade in your old Euro 1-4 diesel for a more environmentally-friendly model - VW give thousands off their hybrid and EV models but as far as I know, they’re the only ones who promise to actually scrap diesels.

The reference to 181 only confirms that this is about shifting cars.

Yeah... they sell the focus electric in the UK but it's practically a state secret.

It's had a recent upgrade, higher capacity battery and the addition of rapid charging.
But it's one of the worst EV conversions of the lot, rear mounted battery so effectively the whole boot is lost and the weight distribution completely thrown off so handling is bad...
The Leaf is better built, has better materials, better handling, more range, quicker rapid charging, more than 300L more boot space, more interior space and is €10k cheaper.... so good luck with that ford.

You're correct. No electric Ford, yet.

Not a bad scrappage scheme but this isn't the forum for that.
