External Oil Combi vs Internal Gas

Starting a house renovation project and at the point of deciding heating. We were looking at an external oil combi boiler to run 8 rooms, and water to kitchen and one bathroom.

We were recommended by contractor to go with an internal gas combi, with 2 LPG tanks at the rear of our house.

We have a limited amount of room, and the 2 tanks will take up a huge amount of useable space when you take into account the tanks and then the area around it that has to be kept clear, whereas the oil tank can be located in a different area thats hidden away.

The reason for gas being suggested is that it works better and is more efficient, whereas oil doesn't work that well on a combi.

    Looking for opinions.

My twopence worth is to keep away from gas unless on mains.

Oil combi boilers are better as they have a standby supply of hot water thus avoiding the warmup time.

Because of cost, or for other reasons?
