Has anybody walked up tonelagee hill from the short side? i.e from the southerly side.

Is there a path? What are the underfoot conditions like (thinking of doing it this weekend) and how was the decent?

    Thanks

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Yeah I've done it a few times descending that way and one time ascending. Path is easy enough to find, but it can get very mucky / wet. Not the most interesting walk that way!

Yes, there's a path up straight from opposite the Wicklow Gap car park. It's a bit indistinct at first but gets a bit better further up. The path takes a bit of a kink to the right closer to the top which is easy enough to follow on the way up, but when descending, esp. if it's become a bit misty in the meanwhile it can be easy to miss. So., from the summit, resist the temptation to go straight down but go slightly south of west for a bit towards a couple of large-ish rocks and pick up the path from there.
