I have got 2 commercial bull calf's that are just 7 to 10 days old after 2 spring calved cows ran late and we put them back to September calving. Its just we have a mostly spring calving cows and I am considering putting bands on 2 calf's to castrate them. so the wont be a nuisance next summer. Does anyone do this and any idea or suggestions.

I think it might have gone late for that. I think you have to do it on the first couple of days.

I've done it and its a job you're glad you did 6 months later but i find its two man job. keeping both balls down under the ring is tricky enough withough worrying about controlling the calf

I didn’t castrate my bulls last year until they were 10-12 months old. I got my vet to do it. He said he would not recommend banding them that strong as there was a risk of black leg. I don’t know why. I waited until they were in the slats about six weeks and lungs were all clear and he squeezed them.

We banded four Bull dairy cross calves this year to see.
Honestly I wouldn’t bother doing it again and indeed my Vet had advised it wasn’t something shed recommend.

One band snapped and so he needs castrating anyway, one calf was hard to heal up and had to spray a few times to keep it clean. One his navel swelled - possibly not related but I’m not sure.
