Hi guys,

https://about.leapcard.ie/leap-90 by reading this

Leap 90 Discount
When you use Travel Credit to pay for two or more journeys within 90 minutes of each other on Dublin Bus, Luas or DART/ Commuter Rail*, an automatic discount will apply to the second and subsequent fares. Trips that benefit from a Leap 90 Discount are:
• Luas – Dublin Bus and Dublin Bus – Luas
• Luas – DART/Commuter Rail and DART/Commuter Rail – Luas
• DART/Commuter Rail – Dublin Bus and Dublin Bus – DART/Commuter Rail
• Dublin Bus – Dublin Bus (launched Nov 2014)

*Leap 90 Discount does not apply to Luas- Luas or DART/ Commuter Rail – DART/ Commuter Rail as these trips already have specific discounted fares.
See table below for applicable discounts:

Leap Card type Leap 90 Discount
Adult (anonymous / personalised)

It tells me that ONE EURO should be discounted from my fare every time I use second method of transport within 90 minutes. This morning I used a train from Park West to Connoly , then walked to George's Dock and traveled by luas to Spencer Dock.  It is within 1 zone, so it should deduct one euro

1 zone €1.54 €1.39

So I should pay 0.54 for the Luas travel (and  €1.00 should be paid back to me)

but instead it looked like this:
     attachment.php?attachmentid=429639attachment.php?attachmentid=429640

why it added 0.70 and why it took 1.24 off , anyone has any ideas?

When using LUAS or Irish Rail it will deduct the maximum fare possible when you tag on and then add back an amount when you tag off to arrive at the correct fare. Remember it has no way of knowing how far you're going till you tag off - therefore they take the maximum and credit you back when you tag off.

LEAP deducted €1.24 - €2.24 (four zone fare, the maximum possible, less €1 discount) and then added back €0.70 to arrive at the one zone fare (less €1 discount) when you tagged off.

Fare was €2.24 less €0.70 = €1.54 less €1 discount = €0.54

In a more clearer way, when valid, the Leap 90 discount is applied when tagging on. No one can anticipate where you are going to, if you are expecting to see it when tagging off.

• I didn't actually realise a discount applies if I get a DART and then a bus or vice-versa. That's very handy, I need to get the bus to my nearest DART station.

LEAP 90 applies to:

Dublin Bus - Dublin Bus
Dublin Bus - LUAS & v.v.
Dublin Bus - Irish Rail & v.v.
LUAS - Irish Rail & v.v.

It doesn't apply to:

LUAS - LUAS
Irish Rail - Irish Rail

as there are full fare matrix for every station/stop combinations
