Is there any website to check the named owner of a car in Ireland?

Looking to buy privately for the first time and want to verify seller is named owner of vehicle.

Eh, no. That'd be a fairly massive data protection issue.

Why? You type the reg, vin and VLC number. If they match, you get the name you can compare...

Put reg into motortax.ie to see if changed ownership in last 3 months, verify all chassis numbers match that on book, nct check online also, if you put reg into motor check site it will tell if UK import, if you aren't up on cars get it looked over, take a photo of 4 sides of log book and bring envelope addressed free post to Shannon, co. Clarke and get seller to place in post box.

No, there isn't. You simply need to ask to see the logbook, compare reg and Vin with the car in question and get the owner details from it.

You give out owners name and address. I'd just do a back round check on the car with the likes of cartell, motorcheck and that'll tell you any reported accidents, when it was nct and taxed going back a couple of years and alot of other history. Has saved me a lot of hassle when going to view a car

Check the ID of the person selling it, if they won't show ID walk away.
