Well water supply issue

Hi folks . Looking for some advice . Recently I have noticed that when using the hose outside that the water supply has completely stopped . Then after about 20 seconds it comes back on full flow. This hasn't happened inside the house , using shower , taps etc . We have our own water source via a well , electronic pump etc. The power supply hasn't tripped while this happens . Welcome advice from any boardies in the know ! Thanks in advance .

Sounds like a pressure switch problem or even more likely a narrowing of the water supply to the said switch.

Get plumber to check it out. Might need no parts. Experienced plumber would be preferable.

The shower and taps in the house will be fed from the tank in the attic and are not directly affected by a drop in pump pressure.
The exception is probably the cold tap in the kitchen. If this stops at the same time as the hose then a pressure drop is likely.
Look to see if there is a nozzle like on a car tyre on the vessel (thing like a tank) beside the pump. Get a car foot pump and put some air into it.
I can't remember the pressure it should be at, maybe someone will come along here to let you know. It may be marked in marker on the vessel.
That might improve things, if not ask around locally who is the go to man for pumps and get him.

Can you still get a full tank?

We used to have the same arrangement. It worked for years, until the water table got too low. Before our well went completely dry, if the flow stopped before filling the tank, we switched the pump off for a while. Then switching it on again got a bit more water, as there was still a certain amount seeping into the borehole.

Just a diagnostic thing, in case it comes to that (which hopefully it won't!).
