I'd approach Volvo Ireland first, and if there's no success there Volvo in Sweden. I'd also be onto the manufacturers of the headlight as it may be of interest to them regarding quality control etc.

If I had no success by email then I'd be onto them using social media. Non aggressive, just being polite and asking is that a typical issue.

At the same time I'd also be getting onto Volvo online forums and see if this is a known issue.

For the part, if I had to pay for it myself I'd get onto Traynors or some other large breakers and see if they have one. Could save a couple of hundred quid.

Write to Volvo in Ireland and Sweden.
Politely ask them why that think the headlight is delaminatong and that you believe it to be a safe issue.

I'd be more concerned about the small child stuck in the headlights!

Keep pushing, you can probably get it sorted by good will.

I'd be pushing the dealer to get Goodwill from Volvo for that.

Never seen or heard of that before, and I've seen a lot of Volvo's over the year.

What Volvo model is it? If you can't get anything from Volvo then it should be fairly easy to pick one up from a brakers I imagine - the headlight unit is generally shared across quite a few models, and can be removed / refitted without any tools on any of the recent Volvo's I've changed bulbs on.

Looks like a V40 or S60 to me.

Hi sorry for the lack of reply I was traveling it’s a 141 Volvo 40.

I have pushed Volvo again and they asked me to bring it to a dealer so the dealer can take photos on Volvo’s behalf.

Did this on sat and awaiting Volvo’s response this week. Dealer said he and never seen anything like it before either so he things

Hopefully they will replace it and send it back to Volvo for investigation.

That's really wierd. Is it peeling off the outside or the inside?

The outside. And it comes off very easy also kinda like film from a new product. The hard plastic it exposes is very hazyed etc but headlight is clear with film intact so the film is supposed to be there

Have you had the car from new? If not it could be a cheap replacement light unit if the original was damaged.

My thinking is that it was scratched /chipped by a stone, and has since peaked due to washing /exposiour to the elements.

Shouldn't happen.. but it has. I'm sure Volvo will do a good will gesture.
In the grand scheme of things is a very minor cost to them.

My thinking exactly with the damage being on the outside. If it has a main dealer history I'd certainly expect Volvo to make some kind of gesture.
