Road closures and bus routes

So, who manages the updating and other aspects of road closures when a bus route is affected.

The Ballybin road between Ashbourne and Ratoath has been closed today from 9 to 4:30, (as it will be for the next 3 days) and it would seem that this information came as a complete surprise to Bus Eireann, which is somewhat worrying given that the 103 and the 109A both use this road between Ashbourne and Ratoath. The official posted diversion would have meant that unless they came into the town and did a 180 turn at some point, neither service would have been coming through Ashbourne. An alternative route via Curraghas is available that would have been better for the buses, but no one seems to know what they were actually doing.

There were illuminated roadside signs in place all weekend advising of the closure, I find it less than credible that none of the drivers on duty over the weekend reported the closure so that alternative routes and information could be posted onto places like the BE website, and on to local media and social media sites.

Maybe this is another manifestation of the current state of affairs at BE, there are clearly serious problems given the number of posts on social media about the number of cancellations and related problems on the local services in recent weeks, and the local social media is full of complaints about missing or late services, and services leaving passengers at intermediate stops when there was space on the service.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Based on experience with Dublin Bus, no body. Collision on Upper Leeson Street near Burlington Road and they added nothing to RTPI signs. Aircoach diverted via Leeson street, but DB diverted via Baggot Street. Signs continued to say 'Bus in x minutes', but nothing showed. When I phoned them, they acted on the sign at Leeson Street Bridge, but did nothing about the sign at the stop by Adelaide Road.

The local authorities are supposed to inform the transport companies of planned road closures and then they publish diversions accordingly.

I'd be interested in how the recent shutdown of access to Rush by Fingal CoCo was planned, and the details informed to transport companies...
Fingal Co Co allowed Irish water shut the r128 from Kilbush Lane to Palmer road; Then they allowedEirtricity/Dublin Marathon shut the r127 into and out of Lusk, leaving only the boreen by St Maurs GAA club, the boreen of Fetherbed lane or the boreens of Raheeney Lane, Commons lane as routes into or out of Rush town.

Transport for Ireland seem to have allowed Dublin Bus or Irish water use non-accessible coaches replace a low floor accessible bus service during the Irish water road closure...
