Got freesat in the house about 2 weeks ago - yesterday shows up in my channel list, but I haven't tried to look at it so I don't know if the channel is actually there or not!

Also don't mean to hijack your thread but I have a quick question - is the guide normally just very crappy, or do I just have a dodgy box. When I scroll through to see what's on, half the channels have no info at all, but if I select them then the guide appears - but it means I need to keep changing channels to see what's on. Is that normal - surely not?

    What make of 'freesat' box?

I have seen it happen when the tuner is in use.

IIRC leaving the box for a while unused allowed all the info to populate.

Ferguson Ariva? That's not an actual Freesat receiver, & you won't get a proper guide.

What do you mean? What is it then, some sort of knock off copy or something?

A generic FTA receiver - you will get now and next program guide, often only after selecting the specific channel, not a 7-day guide for all channels instantly available

Digital satellite TV in the UK was originally the domain of Sky, with the EPG being a proprietry add-on, separate from the actual broadcasts.

Generic boxes could always receive any unencrypted broadcasts, but not the guide.

Freesat is a BBC/ITV initiative (launched 2008 iirc), that aimed to provide Sky-type functionality & ease of use to the free broadcasts. (Or provide a satellite version of the UK's terrestrial Freeview service.) Generic boxes won't get the Freesat guide.
