Parking free for Luas: Windy Arbour & Balally

I would like to park the car and take the Luas into the city, but if I have to pay to park, since it may work out just as expensive, I am tempted to just take the car and pay for parking in town for an hour or two.

Is there free parking at or near Windy Arbour or Balally?

A lot of the streets around Dublin 14 are paid parking and are so to deter Luas park and riders and Dundrum shoppers from clogging what are largely residential areas. You'll get some free parking well off the main roads or in one of the local shopping units but for the hassle of using up a lot of time to be looking or risking a clamp for overstaying, is it worth the hassle?

Maybe just suck it up and bus it in or walk or Park and Ride at the Luas as parking in town is hard to find and rather dear as well.

I never understand people who pay to park and ride. Find a bus stop that has free parking nearby. Luas has become a shuttle for fools and their money. For the taxsaver ticket price, i can leave the car right next to my bus stop for the day.

It depends on where people are coming from and how time sensitive their commute is.

Agreed, the Luas is very handy for getting to town quickly and without running into traffic. Where I live as well the nearest bus doesn't go near town so it's just as handy to pay €2 to park and ride for a few hours at Stillorgan
