Yeah I would say he will on he gets a judge who feels sorry for him regarding work and supporting his family but I doubt it. I would get a good solicitor

Hopefully he does get banned. He isn't a very good driver if he's going around crashing a commercial vehicle into the back of some poor bastard.

    Is his company vehicle insured?

Not the sharpest tool in the shed, risking driving around uninsured when he knows his livelihood depends on him keeping his licence. I'd say there is a good chance he will get a ban.

Is he self-employed, if not could be a problem with work if he collects a load of points on his licence, even if he doesn't get a ban.

If he has a good violin story for his day in court like he needs to bring the kids to school or even better if he can say one of them has an illness and he needs to be able to drive them around then he might get off. Judges always fall for this sheite.

This ^^ and get himself a solicitor and he should keep his license. Not right, but he probably will. Hopefully the scare of all of this will have already thought him a valuable lesson.
    Although some people never learn.

Everyone else is paying for people like this. Deserves the book thrown at him.
Something similar happened to an elderly neighbour of mine. Head on collision with uninsured driver. Court case still ongoing.

Hopefully gets a decent solicitor and gets a second chance.

An idiot for what he done but he does deserve a chance.

If he drives for a living I doubt he'll get a ban. No judge will take away a persons livelihood willingly but in saying that of course he deserves a ban and a good kick in the bollox aswell. He can expect his insurance to be ridiculously high if he does manage to keep his licence.

I can never understand when the solicitor uses the "but he needs the car as he drives for a living" plea for leniency . Surely if you depend on your car/ van to earn , you shoild be doubly vigilant to keep your affairs in order to avoid any chance of being off the road.

I'd say he'll be OK if it's a first offence and he was sober, don't mind the armchair angels who have never made a mistake, get a good solicitor for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,758 ✭✭✭honda boi

Unfortunately he,ll Probaly get just a fine if first offence.
I know unfortunately of a few people that have been done for no insurance/Nct/tax and there first time it was just a fine.
Book should defo be thrown at them but if someone's willing to drive with nothing on there vehicle ,I can see a ban being a kind of badge to these people.

But its not about making a mistake, he didn't have any insurance, how is that a mistake? deserves everything he gets.

Hes not the first chap to make a mistake.

How is driving without insurance for a living a mistake?

I've got zero sympathy for him, it's unconscionable.

Hope he drops the soap in prison.

No insurance and he drives for a living... he better have a good excuse, or expect a ban

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,219 ✭✭✭pablo128

He's uninsurable now with an open claim against him. He better pray there's not a personal injury claim too.

The truck is the employers vehicle. I would imagine the uninsured vehicle is his own.
