Chemical Test for Amount of Plastic content in sand

Hi All, I have no chemistry background at all, but I'm helping out with a school project to assess amount of plastic content (molecular/microplastics?) in sand from local beaches. Is there a simple-ish chemical test tube sort of test that could be done? Many thanks for any suggestions

What if you burnt/ superheated it and measured emissions ?
