    Hi All,

After rebuilding/changing engine and replacing parts and spending a fortune on fixing my Audi A4 1.6L Petrol, the car failed the emission again.
following were the readings at NCT test:

    Low Idle
    CO 1.82%
    HC 83ppm

    High Idle
    lamdba 0.90
    CO 3.82vol%
    HC 132ppm

Please suggest! This reading was way better then last time but still need more fix i imagine. Any suggestions or feedbacks?

    Thanks.

    Air filter? MAP sensor?

The 1.6 VAG petrol engines were fairly good i thought?

Would a full service, dipetane and an italian tune up sort it?

Dipetane and an Italian tune-up can only help when the Co or Hc readings are marginal and lambda is correct. In this case the car is massively overfuelling due to one or more faulty components, injector, lambda sensor, map etc it needs proper diagnosis

I had this issue on a 1.4 VW engine previously, you might well be right.

Many things can cause the issue, it's impossible to say without seeing the car and some live data :)

Is the Lambda value shown by NCT coming from OBD diagnostics or directly from the exhaust analysis?

Coming out of the exhaust, only cars with a wideband lambda could show it through obd port and there aren't that many of them :)

1.6 vag engine is up there with the 3 cylinder 1.2 engine as one of the worst engines for failing emissions.

I had 2 of them, a 00 Golf and a 06 Leon, both flew through the NCT without any engine related issues.

I know the 1.4 is a notorious engine.

Hi Guys! so got he NCT today .. i went to a garage today in afternoon.. he fixed the emission!
to wht he told me was that there was wiring issue and the fuse was not plugged in correctly; the engine managemnt light went off and said emission passed!
just before NCT took the car for a drive n popped in a petrol injector ... and hurrayyyyy!!! it fckn passsed!!
so happy! ... at the end i'de say its hard to find good mechanic but when u do , things get pretty easy!!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
