Not looking forward to this. If they want to make a good Die Hard film they should bring back John McTiernan.

Because few of us would say no to an enormous suitcase of cash dumped on our front lawn, Bruce Willis will return to the Die Hard franchise for a sixth time, his first since 2013's A Good Day to Die Hard. Len Wiseman, co-creator of the Underworld franchise and director of 2007's Die Hard 4.0, has been teasing the film since 2015, when he announced a title, Die Hard: Year One, on Twitter. The film will be partly set in the past, with John McClane depicted as a rookie cop in Seventies New York.

The young McClane will be played by a different actor, with Willis appearing in scenes that bookend the film. Meaning Willis can collect a hefty paycheck without actually having to stretch his legs too much.
But after being stuck in development for nearly two years, Wiseman has revealed to Deadline that production is finally underway, with casting for the role of a young Willis having already commenced. He said, "The right casting for this role is crucial. Those bare feet have some very big shoes to fill."

So it's not really going to be a Die Hard movie, much like the last two.

Can they not just get that lad from 3rd Rock from the Sun?

John Lithgow as a young John McClane is a bold move.

Was this not already done with Joseph Gorden levity?

They could call it “Die hard 6 - looper” .

Think he means Wayne Knight, sure he played a cop in 3rd Rock.

When the guy who played "young you" in a previous film is now old enough to have his own "young you", you know you're old.

It was just announced that the movie is going to be called "McClane" and the script was handed in a couple of months ago in July.

Things should start ramping up towards production now.

Hopefully it won’t be any worse than the last one, one which was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen.

Frank Sinatra already stared in the pre-sequel "The Detective", which due to contractual agreements meant he had first dibs to play the lead in "Die Hard", which he turned down.

It was absolutely atrocious. Imagine this one will make the deathwish remake look good.
