Dunlop Sportmaxx 225/45r19

The high horse brigade

These tyres came fitted on my Maxda 6 and I love them. They also have a -67db rating which makes road noise very low so I'd like to stick with them. I bought 2 of them earlier in the year at €185ish which was pretty pricey but I'm now seeing crazy prices, €209(Eiretyres) and €220(Oponeo).

Any reason why they've gone so expensive and are they likely to stay that high or come back to what they were. I will need 2 more shortly. Any other sites or other brands you'd recommend.

They came on my 5 Series when I bought it and to be honest I wasn't impressed with them. Replaced them recently with Goodyear Eagle F1 AS3s and I find them way superior to the Dunlops.

I can't find Eagle F1s in that size. It's a pricey size, not that common, 225/40 or 235/45 seem to be better priced and more common.

I had SportMaxx RT (the Sportmaxx comes in different flavours) under a Leon FR and I found them fair crap once they started to wear. I was getting wheelspin in third on damp roads with 3 to 4 mm of thread left and they got very noisy. I replaced them with Continental ContiPremiumContact 6 (as the Contisportcontact6 wasn't available in my size) and they were much better. Much better grip in the damp, the steering has a lot more "life" to it (it's not as dead), fuel economy improved when compared to the Dunlop.

The only good thing about the Dunlop is that when new, there was not a lot of noise off them.

I'd be looking at around the same price, 220 quid a corner and then 15 to fit which to me is pricey

+1 for the Conti Premium Contact 6's.
Had them fitted last week. Really impressed. Previously had Bridgestone Potenzas that came with car and the Rainsport 3's.
Kwik fit Newry were/are doing a deal on them so got them at a much cheaper price than down here and was able to do some shopping while I was up there.

Kwik fit UK have Conti Sport Contact 5 for £197 which works out at €224 fitted which seems as good as it gets with this size tyre. I only need 2 though, hardly worth going up for.

I have no experience of the Ultrac Vorti but have other Vredestein tyres in the past and always found them great.

Good prices. I can get the Dunlop Sportmaxx for €380 delivered or Conti Sport Contact 5 for 395 delivered. The best deals i've come across

Anyone recommend Kumho? I know a lot of manufacturers are shipping with them. There's a serious saving on these, they have a good rating
