Just noticed Quest and Quest Red testing on 12382H 27500 5/6 in the clear with SIDs of 6213 & 6214. They have full epg data so looking promising. The main difference is they are 720x576 res not 544x576

Must be gone again .... not getting anything

I got Red on 6214 in 720 ...... great improvement if it stays FTA.

It seems my normally tuned Quest Red is 720!

My bad wrong freq. Should be 12382 H 27500 5/6 was looking at +1 by mistake :o

Thanks ...... got the second one in 720 x 576

    A considerable improvement on the 544x576 :)

Bit of freeing up going on across a few TPs at the moment.

More notably is the emergence of Gold HD on Eden HD's old TP. Eden HD has now left 28.2 and the SD version only exists. With Gold taking over that slot, its apparent that there are several things afoot.

Most likely Sky have refused to pay the carriage for the continued use by Eden HD on that TP, but that they would pay for a non super niche station that actually has reasonable viewing figures, like Gold HD OR

moves are afoot to move the SD variant of Gold to Freesat whilst having a HD encrypted version on Sky. This would be in line with UKTV's previous business decisions of their SD stations........coincidentally Gold have a birthday coming up.

    I'm guessing Gerry!

Sky are gearing towards UHD and HD as a min. They are no longer interested in exclusive SD content.

UKTV on the otherhand want it all.

Can't imagine Sky letting Gold sd go fta.
Gold is one of the main Sky channels, its even offered as part of the 10 entertainment channels on Now TV

It's really not Sky's decision to make. It's UKTV's decision to either continue take payments from Sky or go the FTA route and depend solely on advertising for their SD channel.

Hopefully they take the FTA route. Go pay with Gold HD. Then do what they did with Dave(And what Discovery are doing with Quest) Up the bit rates on the sd channel to vastly improve picture quality for FTA/FREESAT viewers.

I just did a manual scan for them. The PQ look better than the original low res channels. I also hope Gold will become FTA for us. That will be brilliant.

I'm using a FTA box, can you tell me what the SR and specific Satellite is? I was getting it from Astra 2E but it seems to have disappeared. Thanks!

    It is on Astra still.
The frequency and SID above should be sufficient to tune them in.

I dunno what you mean by SR ...

    There's a second number I have to put in like 27500 or 22000. I've a fairly basic Ariva 150

Probably 27500 as posted in the first post in this thread.

In the evenings there are lots of Wheeler Dealers repeats, there's a show called Fantomworks on too that's pretty good. Not sure what's on during the day.

Yeah that fixed it, strange. Discovery Red has appeared aswell. No sign of their +1s though.

Quest is a great channel for Freeview for people who dont download their tv, the auld lad is always praising it since I put it on the box for him.

The +1's are on the same TP but not FTA (yet)
