Any thoughts on Macron's recent speech?

The guardian seems to love it, but is short on analysis. Admittedly he was short on specifics, but his general gist was clear.

The main theme of the speech seems to pushing ahead with greater integration. Advocating also "multi-speed" with FRance/Germany and other like minded political leaders pushing ahead of everyone else with integration.

His comments on taxation would be a worry to many in Ireland.

The one thing that struck me was greater defence cooperation/integration. I can see some benefit, e.g. cost savings. But when you look at how France was leading the push to intervene in Libya, and Syria also, you can see how there could be some troublesome implications of increased "integration" there.

(also the Politics forum, once a hive of activity, is very quiet? a lot of people posting in after hours now?)
