Sky Phone line and broadband

    Hi,
I'm not one to post on public forums but I've absolutely had it up to my eyes with Sky, and am getting nowhere fast with them over the phone so maybe this may get a result.
We recently moved into a house and there is no phone line in. There is a pole right outside the gate on the road. We applied through Sky to have a phone line installed and after the engineer never arrived on the date we were informed we had to organise another appointment.
On the second occasion a KN technician actually arrived and informed us we'd need to install ducting to the house as the cable couldn't be pulled overhead.
We got the ducting installed the following weekend with rope installed etc as instructed and awaited our next appointment. After taking my second day off work to facilitate this, the technician didn't arrive until 5pm and stated that it was "obviously too late" to do the install today, but had a quick look at the ducting and said "at least I know where the house is for the next day"
Yet again I had to ring Sky and arrange for another appointment. The appointment was booked for a Monday but on the Thursday before, KN rang me directly asking could they come Saturday instead. I agreed to this and sat around all day Saturday waiting for them to come and they never came, not even a phone call to say they wouldn't make it. I rang both Sky and KN that evening and they both insisted because it didn't go ahead that they would stick with the original Monday appointment.
Low and behold, I had to take another day off work the Monday only for them not to turn up again! I contacted Sky again and they agreed this was unacceptable and "escalated" it. I was told I'd be kept updated but this lasted for a day or two and then another appointment was made for yesterday Sept 26th, 2 weeks later!
I thought to myself surely this time they'll arrive, but yet again after my 4th day's annual leave from work to sit around the house waiting for them to arrive, they never turned up. And not as much as a phone call again. I spoke to someone today and they are currently waiting for KN to update the order and can't do anything until this happens. Sky have told me they'll ring again tomorrow with an update but I just don't know what to do any more. Sky have now cost me 4 days holidays from work and a Saturday for no reason at all. At this stage now if there's another appointment made I cannot afford to sit around yet again for them not to turn up. I understand that Sky can only do so much and it's up to KN to carry out the work but this is just gone beyond ridiculous.
Please help. And by help, I mean install a phone line and not keep making appointments and not carrying out the works.

Unless you live in a Virgin area that wont change anything. All line operators use OpenEir who use KNN who love to no show etc. Cant be avoided if you want a fixed line service.

Exactly.... whether I go with eir or sky, KNN do the works for the two so I have no options but to be held at ransom like this until it's done. It's the complete disregard for common courtesy that really gets me. And the phrase, "it's a little bit Irish" keeps being used.... why should we accept such a bad service?
