I would say Fallen, with Denzel Washington or Zodiac with Robert Downey Jr...
both have aged well... the movies, I mean...

It doesn't matter, once you tell someone there's a twist in a movie you stop enjoying the movie and spend the whole time trying to guess what the twist is...

Most thrillers involve a guessing game throughout!

Frantic 1988 - Polanski - no one does thriller like Harrison Ford!

    Primal Fear
Nightcrawler, more a character study than thriller but I genuinely didn't know what to expect next
    Green Room
    Blue Ruin
    10 Cloverfield Lane
    Captain Philips

Recently watched 'In the heat of the night' and it's surprisingly very relevant

I think they adressed this very issue in an episode of the I.T. crowd

By saying there is a twist you effectively rob the eventual twist of its impact and just ruin the film.

I remember a few years back in canteen during lunch reading paper and seeing 6th sense was on TV that night, I mentioned I'd never seen it and might give it a watch.

One pillock goes oh great film and the twist at the end is class you'll never see it coming...

Other 2 guys at table just stare at him and one goes erhm I think jcd will see it coming now maybe as you've bloody told him.

Suffice to say I was watching for twist so much I figured it out early, but thought it was too easy so ended up disappointed there was no further twist.

Damn, I'm just getting through the I.T. crowd now and I haven't seen that episode so that jokes ruined for me :p

The film is nearly 20 years old. Anyway apologies OP. I personally find it more intriguing when I hear there's a good twist in a film so never thought of it as a big deal.

The Conversation. Excellent turn by Gene Hackman and a great supporting cast.

You should definitely catch Green Room by the same director (if you haven't already seen it). Genuine edge of your seat stuff.

Saw Green Room earlier this year. Really good. Great low-budget director, I'll be keeping an eye on him.

    "A lonely place to die" - 2011

small list of lessor known thrillers (got "A lonely place to die" from here)

A Simple Plan starring Bill Paxman and Billy Bob Thorntan is excellent.

The Hitcher from 1986 is one of the most gripping thrillers I've seen. It was influenced by Spielberg's debut film 'Duel' which itself is an great underappreciated thriller.

Just wondering if anyone would know, how do you do spoiler blanks on here? I'm mostly on my phone so would need to do it on that.

Gone Girl is a great thriller.

Another good one would be Vacancy.

Thanks Charlie but I don't see "spoiler"at the bottom of the screen?

Right at the bottom of the screen you can click Full Site.

This will change the boards from touch site format to PC format.

When you're in full site mode youll have all the normal buttons, the likes of spoiler tags, YouTube and so on.
