I want to start a blog; however, much of the content will by the nature of the subject matter be short videos. Am I best off uploading to You Tube and embedding them into my blog, or using Snapchat (never used this) or Instagram?
Also, fairly new to social media in general - how would I drive traffic to my site? Again YouTube, or better off using one of the above, FB or Twitter- or all of them?

First thing would be to get the same handle (username) on all platforms. That will make it much easier for people to identify you and look you up. Make sure that your description on all platforms mention your website and cross-references to all your other platforms.

I personally despise FB so I don't invest much in my blog's FB page. However, in terms of driving traffic and engagement, Facebook is one of the best. Videos on Facebook are actually rewarded by Facebook's algorithms. I would think that uploading videos to a YouTube channel, then embedding in the blog, and posting to FB, Twitter etc would be a good way to work, but perhaps others can offer better ideas.

I recommend joining the "Irish Bloggers" group on Facebook, there are some good discussions and links in there that might help you.

Have a look at the blog Cherry Sue, Doin' The Do - It might not be in the category of blogging you are in but somewhere on her blog she has a few very informative posts about blogging, increasing reach, scheduling posts, how to use your analytics etc.
