Just throwing this out there when is it time to give up on an appliance and is there any point in repairing any appliance any more.

My trusty beko condensor drier dcu8230 all of a sudden gave up(after only 3 yeats)Cost 260 when bought.

Its doing everything bar heating i checked for any blockages the float switch is fine filters clean etc so dug a bit deeper

Having removed the back cover the element looks ok it hasnt tripped the thermal cut out and the stat appears to be fine reading ok on ohms and decreasing when heated the front air intake probe is fine too.

Only thing i can think of now is a fault of some description on the main board which makes replacement probably uneconomical

Its an awful shame to have to replace and just recycle it when i think its something like a card is at fault.

If anyone has some sites they can share where i might be able to get a schematic of the machine id be grateful as i would prefer to keep it in the shed as a back up if i can get the part to fix it.

with the element did you do only a visual or did you check the heater coils for continuity? unlikely a break on the leads down from the pcb to the heater terminal block , do a visual inspection on the pcb and look for signs of bulging on the capacitors, generally a replacement pcb but if it is a cap or relay on the board you may be able to do a repair on the cheap Expertise in Tullamore should be able to give you a price on a replacement pcb, you will find them on the net.

Did a continuity test and they readings were ok removed the element and it looks fine as well

No bulges on the caps on the board but a connector labelled kn2 one leg is loose unfortunately a bit above my capabilities soldering a board as I don't have the right tip.

Thanks for the reply though Ace.
    Think I've tried and failed
