Starting work and benefits

A friend had an interview yesterday and found out he has the job today at 5.30
Now he won't get his first salary til the end of November (thinks anyway)

Is there any support he can apply for to tide him over for the next few weeks as he'll be penniless after his next payment on Monday

Found a thread on here but it was from 6 years ago about getting an exceptional needs payment that then has to be paid back

Your friend should phone their local INTREO Centre and make an appointment to
meet the CWO to apply for Supplementary Welfare Allowance.
