Any place where you can get these online guys ? Googling isn't working for me this time.

    Specifically a Mazda 323 2001.

Are they commonly known as anything else ?

    Thanks

Not online, but most breakers yards will have them in spades.

If you can't find an oil cap youre searching wrong. Look for a 710 cap and see how you get on..

Ebay, a breakers or a main dealer.

Possibly a motor factor or Halfords have something you can use

I've managed to drive down the M50 with no oil cap. Topped up the oil and forgot to put it back on. Came off after hearing a rattle from the engine. Oil everywhere, but oil cap still sitting across the strut bar!

I've done it... Topped up the oil before a 300km journey to the depths of West Cork and stopped to find the engine smoking. Had to replace it in a hurry and a local garage was able to order it from a dealer. Tried a few breakers but pickings were slim.

Should pick one up in a main dealer cheap enough.
    Happened to me before.
    Travelled about 60km without one:p
Was nowhere near a motor factors or dealer.
So used some tinfoil and a cable tie,and worked till I got to a dealer.
    Think it cost about €10

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

did oil pressure warning light not come on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,514 ✭✭✭TheChizler

Could take a couple of litres to be lost before the light comes on. When I did it I was sure I had no oil left from the mess but I didn't even need to top up when I checked after it had settled.

No idea, suspect it has been lost for quite a while. Possibly since previous time checked oil...

Warning light has been broken for tears too.

    Anyway got cap in breakers.

Despite suggestions here eBay or online doesn't really work. You see caps alright but when drill down and look for exact fit for your car nothing shows up. And I have bought other parts online before so not a complete newbie to this
