Liebherr Fridge Freezing up

We have a three year old integrated fridge freezer. A couple of weeks ago, ice start forming at the back of the fridge. We tried defrosting the fridge, but the same problem re-occurred once we plugged it back in. The layer of ice is quite thick.

We can dislodge the ice by pouring hot water on it, but are concerned this might damage the fridge and anyway, the ice forms again within a day or two. We called Liebherr and there is a call out charge of €100 plus the cost of any repairs. It was a reasonably expensive appliance and I would have thought it should last longer than 3 years before having this kind of problem.

    I'd welcome any suggestions.

a number of things can cause this problem and the worst being a refrigerant leak which causes the fridge to run on and not able to cut out, defrost it again but put a pencil mark at the edge of the ice if on start up again you notice that the ice isn't reaching the pencil mark you will then know that it has a leak which isn't a fixable long term repair, also make sure the door is closing fully and by that I mean the fridge door not the wooden one, to check it open the freezer door and look up from underneath and see that the magnetic seal is touching the cabinet then check the freezer door , if not sealing the whole unit has moved back in the cabinet and will need to be brought forward, third thing that can cause the problem is a faulty stat
