Advice on buying i30 vs Ceed

Looking at buying a used i30 or ceed, probably 2010/11 1.6 crdi. Budget 7500k
Would cars of this age be reliable? I need something rock solid I'm fed up fixing my current car and I do around 25k miles yearly

Is it better to buy off a main dealer and pay more or look at some of the independent garages?

They're probably the best of the small diesels reliability wise. Toyota 1.4 very good too.
The Kia is more likely to have cruise control which would surely be handy if you're doing so much mileage. 6 speed model would be of benefit too mpg wise.

All cars need maintenance though, especially when you're doing high mileage.

The i30 is a nicer looking car IMO but mechanically they're more or less identical.

My advice from having many through the workshop is to avoid. The engine and gearbox are fantastic but the rest of the car will fall apart around you, suspension issues with poor design so the bolts seize into the arms and need to be torched off....brake disc backing plates are 150 euro each side and 2.5 hours labour per side to fit and the rot like nobody's business, I have done more than I can count.
Many kia and hyundai parts are far more expensive than for typical golf, almera etc and some parts are main dealer only (backing plates for example) they are cheap for a reason :(

Looks good, has the higher bhp version of the engine too which is nice. Looks to have cruise control too.

Make sure it doesn't crunch going into reverse, as that's a sign the pressure plate in the clutch is about to out to lunch.

Main dealer sale should be a safe enough bet. Just out of manufacturers warranty so you'd hope any issues would have been dealt with on that. They should be giving a decent warranty like 12 months on it.

Tax is out on it a good while though which raises questions. It was only taxed for 3 months last time too.
