I guess Fm104 would be but what about 98fm & Newstalk ? Today fm was said to be printing money back in the Celtic tiger days but what about now ?

I imagine there is no transparency, as the owner of each station around the country will follow a strategy that best suits them, e.g. instead of profit, they may take income as rent or some other form of income.

At this stage, if anyone is making profits other than long established ILRs I'd be amazed. There are likely to be others that are covering running costs but have severe debt loads - either genuine or somewhat massaged by ownership structures.

Absolutely. Even when looking at unabridged financial accounts for firms, it can be very difficult, even for trained professionals, to understand the underlying profitability of a company.

The only people who know whether private radio is making any money or not, are the senior managers/ owners. However, in terms of Communicorp, I don't imagine its Irish business is particularly lucrative.
