Need advise about moustache, growing out a beard

I'm growing out my beard but my very heavy moustache is causing difficulty, it keeps annoying me when I eat. I'm using moustache wax in the morning to train the hairs to go to the sides, but after an hour or two it's back down over my mouth again. I even need a napkin when drinking coffee. If I do trim it how should I trim it or what to do. Will things improve if I keep growing it and training it to the side. I'm unsure what to do and have held off triming it for the last while.

There are different waxes and some of them offer a stronger hold. However even these won't last all day. Maybe it depends on the type of beard hair you have but I can't really train mine. What I do occasionally is totally overload it with wax, comb it thru, and point the ends like salvador dali. The next day I comb it out and typically it holds pretty well and looks natural.

Personally I trim. I brush the stache downwards and trim from one corner of my mouth to the other. I then wax and twizzle the ends and lift them out of the way. If you have a beard I then will trim underneath the lifted stache ends to get a clear separation of stache and beard.

Good luck! Keep playing. It will always grow back.

I have a full beard but my moustache tends not to cooperate in any way with anything I try to do with it, I too just comb it downward and then trim it just on the lip from one corner to the other. I clip back the ends ever so slightly to keep them from going into the corners of my mouth.

I might just clip along the lip later, I've been holding out but badly need to do something as it's impossible to keep it out of my mouth

I trim mine so that it doesn't overly get in the way of food and drink even though I have quite a growth on my top lip. It still sits well and is not out of shape with the rest of my beard.

Ok, I've done it, I'm down the slippery slope and it didn't come out too bad. I didn't come all the way up to the lip, just a small bit below so my tashe covers my top lip completely but the hair isn't long enough to go in the mouth. I watched a youtube vid some time ago which said to put your lips in the shape of a smile when you trim the top lip which worked out really well with a straight clippers blade, gives the trim a more natural shape. Thanks all, I think I'll have soup in public for starter this evening :D
