Guys, question for the ABL owners.
I just installed mine today after 7 months of ownership.
It’s wired and the green light flashes every 5 seconds to indicate it’s ready to take a connection.

My question is does it flash constantly? I though it my go into a sleep mode of some sort.

I would sometimes go a week without needing a charge so am I better to flip the on board breaker in between uses or just leave it be and let if flash away.

    Thanks.

Leave it be... let it flash away, according to my meters it only draws 2W.

let it flash away , I cover mine with tape as the light is far too visible at night and I dont want to attract attention to the device

I would not recommend you switch it off and on , all electronics fail largely on power up , so reducing power cycling tends to result in longer life actually

    Finally, a final question.
I’ve only plugged my car in today. As you can see I don’t need Home charging that much!

When done do I simply unplug ?
With our Work chargers we hit a switch off button then unplug but with the ABL units there’s no ‘off’ button.

    Thanks.

Yup! :) Unless the lock in engaged... then you need to turn off the lock.

For future reference on Type 2 cars (not your leaf) the car side locking of the connector is usually part of the central locking and the connector releases when you unlock the car.

    I suspect that's a local/specific requirement
On any home cp (and on my Rolec work CP) it's just unplug when done.

On type 1and type 2 connectors the CP and proximity signal pins disconnect first , so the car should shut down charging and the EVSE release the contactors before the mains pins disconnect ( in theory anyway )

I like the type 1 plugs better actually , the switch on top signals the leaf and the evse and I always press that first.

Anyone know what the story is re getting a charge card for the public network when you are not a home owner or electricity bill payer?
ESB website says they want proof of car ownership and recent bill before issuing card for the network.
Can bill payer agree and go from there?

Just to clarify, they basically want you to prove you own an EV and prove your address. You don't have to be a home owner and the utility bill doesn't have to be an ESB bill... any bill that proves your home address will do.

    Ah okay. I misread that.
