Air shows

Today was quite a tragic day.
I'm in Italy at the moment, specifically a town called Terracina.
This weekend there was a buzz around the town as the red arrows were going to perform today along with some other planes with a notable mention for a euro fighter typhoon.
Event started at 3pm so myself and my brother went to the beach front with the entire town there to see the show so give or take 50k people.
    Streets packed.
Show starts and we see a military helicopter demonstrate a see rescue and then a few fixed wing planes fly in formation.
Then came the euro fighter and my god was the jet a thing of beauty.
The boom and crackle of its jet engines as it zoomed passed us and performed fantastic stunts.
I took out my phone as did many other people to record the sounds of this plane and it's amazingly quick turn of direction.
The flight would last 7m 39s.
As I kept my recording fixed on the pilot, he aimed it for the skies and then began a loop and down he came but it was coming down at a ferocious speed but none of us were any wiser until this happened:

    https://theaviationist.com/2017/09/24/italian-eurofighter-typhoon-crashes-during-terracina-airshow-killing-test-pilot/

I can't describe what it's like to witness that event unfold in the matter of seconds it took from people cheering and waving to complete silence falling around that beach.
What has hit me the most is just the memory burnt into my brain of that plane attempting to get back up and then belly smacking into the sea.
The complete chill that runs down my spine when I hear the jet engines boom continue seconds after the death of the pilot only for them to simply stop as if someone muted the entire area.
I guess in a way I'm traumatised by it.
The pilot was 36 and his girlfriend and parents were watching on as the plane went down.
I've no idea what to do with the video I have which show the final moments, do I delete it and move on? Or keep as some sort of weird memory that I can share with people?
I've watched it 20 times and it hits me every single time.
The worst is a picture I have of what clearly shows the after burners on full blast which says to me that the pilot tried to the very end to save the planes fatal fall.

Not sure what else to add but RIP to the pilot.

I was thinking if I should pass it on.
I was at the very front of the beach so the crash was right before me but the video is broken down into segments.
So I have him doing some stunts then a fly by and then his actual descent into the sea.
I've 5 photos too, 2 showing the last 1 second before impact and they are HE and the other 3 are of the impact.

Poor guy, and a special thought for family and friends who had the horrific experience of witnessing the crash that took him. I'm sure it's an image they'll struggle to live with for the rest of their lives. I can't imagine what it could possibly be like to see someone you love die suddenly like that.

OP, offer the video to the police.

Id definitely get on to the organisation who ran the show and ask if they could pass you on to the aviation authority,
Your video images could be important

Good point, I'll look for their details now.

    This could be of use.

They will need as much information as possible,I remember the authorities in UK requested as much video and photographic evidence as possible after the Shoreham air show crash.

A lot of videos of it on youtube. I suppose I wouldn't delete it, not sure I'd upload on youtube either.

I've emailed them now and offered all photo and video evidence I have available.

Yeah. Hand it over to air crash investigation, grieve for what was no doubt a very upsetting incident, but keep it off social media. It could be construed as using a tragedy for the wrong reasons.

It's all over the news and social networks so it's not something hidden from view.
Also I'm not posting my video just the news article related to it.
I can remove the link if it bothers people.

air shows are pretty bad for this..didn't we have something like this a year or two ago in england...and who's old enough to remember that horrific tragedy in germany with the fighter jets crashing into the crowd

It's still a pretty rare occurrence,

Strangely enough Shoreham similarities with the two craches, high power loops at too low altitudes.

Pilot identified as Capt. Gabriele Orlandi

    Oh I'm sure it is.

But it could be construed as you using the scene of an horrific tragedy to garner likes. I'm not saying you are, but if it's all over the place, your video adds nothing to the news...except, a cynic might say, to record your place in it. The wholesale "I'm safe" messages on Facebook after tragedies in various cities have drawn criticism because people accuse the posters of wanting to record their proximity to the news rather than a real need to contact those close to them.

It's a good point but I won't be adding my video or pictures at all.
The link is using other peoples videos.

These frontline fighters are way too powerful to be doing loop the loops – they should leave that to the propeller & stunt planes.

The most they should do at airshow altitudes (at high speeds) is a straight line pass.

Utter rubbish. The absolute question is why didn't he eject ? Maybe he was unconscious ?

It won't be known until the recorders are found.
Unfortunately he crashed at a time when it would be getting dark soon and priority was hid body.
Rumours of course fly around from maybe he fainted and woke up before the crash or just a simple malfunction.
Passed by about an hour ago and the coast guard and police were leaving the area so I imagine it will resume at first light.

Could be technical but there are so many backup systems. A Typhoon is unstable & basically can't fly without it's computer.

I wouldn't think that an ejector seat would fail.

Seriously showing a lack of knowledge on the matter there I'm afraid. Power is an advantage when doing such manoeuvres. "Stunt planes" a good example of that. Lightweight aircraft with powerful engines.

Maybe because, y'know people find it entertaining?

Tragedy alright, worse to be a witness to it. Looked like he had plenty of room and altitude to complete the manoeuvre too(unlike the Shoreham crash). Mechanical failure? Though not ejecting might rule that out, or as has happened before pilots try to the end to regain control.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Maybe weapons of war but they're a feat of engineering

Agree with that. Planes like those need to be able to perform those types of stunts as they are designed also for dog fights.
It was very entertaining to watch and the pilot was very impressive with his moves and the utter sound of the craft had me in awe.
Today they are searching for the black boxes and luckily the sea is calm so I imagine these will be recovered today.
What will always stay with me is 1) the impact and the noise of it and 2) the utter silence on the beach.
The plane tries to level out at the end so some also wonder if potentially the plane malfunctioned and began to head towards the beach in which case the pilot steered at away at the cost of his life? No idea.

It's the aviation and planes people go to see, not weapons.

    They're also not armed.

I got a response from the military today asking me to forward them my video as it will be sent to the investigative team for review.
Is it a simple burn to disc I'd need to do? Just transfer it to the computer and the burn it to the cd?
