Is Sky Q an improvement? Or is Sky +HD as good if not better?

No need to be rude. I'm asking for peoples opinions not for link to google. So posting a link to Google is quite rude.

if you don't want to answer.. then don't

You asked for my opinion, which I gave at first. You then asked for its features. Hence the google. You will find out everything there.

Yes, and you could have explained what features it has instead of a link to a google search page. If i wanted to google it, I would have.

I have Sky Q. You can only get 4k content if you get multiroom. That's an extra 15 per month. If you already pay 15 for HD then it is still another 15 per month for 4k. The installation cost is high especially with multiroom in 2 rooms.

The Sky Q box itself I like. The remote control is a major step forward. The menu takes a bit of getting used to but like all changes to the menu you get used to it and after awhile wonder how you lived without it.

Personally is can't see a good reason to change from sky HD to Sky Q unless you want 4K content and even that is quite limited at the moment.

For me, there isn't much of a difference except that you can record far more on a Q box.

Here are a few of my opinions on the Sky Q
    Advantages

    1. Sky Q nicer guide

    2. Two different remotes one with build in mouse cursor which once you get used to is great

    3. Can record four things instead of 2...not sure personally why anyone needs to as everything is repeated day in day out.

    4. Sound has now Dolby Atmos coming to some sport channels soon which is amazing but would require specialist sound equipment for full enjoyment-sky are releasing their own sound equipment shortly for this purpose.

    5. Better online functions

    6. Multiroom boxes work off wifi from the main box so need no cables ran from dish to second room. All recording done on main box can be played on multiroom boxes. If wifi signals are weak in secondary room they provide a wifi extender. Personally have found these to be hit and miss and have ran a cat5 or cat6 cable where possible to make system foolproof.

    7. If you loose the remote you can hold a button on the box to make the remote whistle so you can easily find it, definitely handy after a few pints lol

    8. If you have sports pack and get the silver q box some matches are available in Ultra HD via the red button and are simply amazing I beleive some motor car races are also been broadcast in ultra hd as well.

    Disadvantages
    1. Requires a hybird lnb- This is supplied by sky on install but will not work with any other box, its possible to get a hybrid with a quad so 6 outlets for other boxes in other rooms. Sky are reluctant at times to give u this and wont unless you have other boxes already in place on install.

    2. Cannot run a magic eye to another room without the use of specialist equipment to convert signal down a cat6 cable to watch in another room.

    3. Cost much more and in my opinion its not worth much more..

    4. Box gets very very very hot in my opinion so should be kept in a well insulted location not locked in a press etc.

    5. Have seen a few problems with boxes such as noisy fans and hums off them but like all sky products the early days there are issues that they quickly iron out so this could have now been recified

All new customers are now provided with a Q-Box as standard install from now on unless they have an old tv and have specified this on ordering.

thats my unbiased opinion rite now.. hope that helps steve

Extra recording capacity is nice. I record a lot of sport and often at the same time.
Having all your recordings centralised is cool too. Only had a Sky HD box as the 2nd box so couldn't record on that.
Now the wife can happily banish me to the bedroom to watch my Rugby.
Generally having the full set of features that the main box has, on your 2nd box, is the best thing about sky q for me.

Do the boxes get much hotter than what a Sky + box would? and also is it true there's no scart connection on it?

I totally forgot about this. You get so used to these things you forget that they are cool.
