Hello all. Myself and my gf are goin to brugges for a couple days next month. We're flying in to Brussels zaventem airport then gettin train up to brugges. I never did my homework though. Looks like our train journey is costing €85 return 🀀🀀🀀 anyone know any way to get it cheaper or is that the price.

    What are your dates?

There's a special surcharge for trains to/from Zaventem which jacks up the price a bit.

I did see that notice of the surcharge from zaventem on the train website. I thought it might just be a couple euros tops. Dates are 2nd October returning on the 4th.

€76.80 for the express bus from airport to Luxemburg station in the centre. Then train to Brugge.

Barely worth the hassle of saving a tenner though. Thanks though.

Was thinking the same. Only other discount would be if you're both under 26.

Without knowing your times on those dates, this site does it cheaper.

To check the train timings from Brussels airport to Bruges, see the official railways website. https://www.belgianrail.be/en/

you can buy the train ticket on the day at the train station under the airport, either from a manned desk or a machine (which also have English in their menu)

If you guys are under 26 it's €6 each way to the best of my knowledge. They have a thing called the go pass.

You could try getting a train into say Brussels gare du nord/central etc and booking it that way. I don't remember it being 70 something euro I think it was a lot cheaper. It's only an hour approx of a journey anyway.

Make sure to select a 2nd class ticket rather than 1st class.

You could take Flixbus from Zavantem to Bruges with a change in Brussels.

    https://www.flixbus.com/

Will probably cost you around a tenner each

Or you could take the train to Brussels then a flixbus from there.

If it was me I'd just rent a car :)

If you happen to be travelling on the weekend, tickets are half price, but this isn't always clear when you purchasing tickets. Instead of searching 'standard tickets', look for 'weekend tickets'.

Take a Rail Pass. It gives you 10 single journeys for 77 EUR and can be shared. You need to fill in a line for each journey. So if you are with two, you fill in two lines for each trip.

    http://www.belgianrail.be/en/travel-tickets/passes-cards/rail-pass.aspx

The surcharge for the airport needs to be paid separately though. But this would make each trip about 14 EUR each way.
