Is this a fair price for Boiler work

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking to see if what I've been quoted on for some work on a boiler is a fair price or am I being over charged. A colleague((decent guy that'd I'd trust and feel knows what he's talking about).) in work thinks it's overpriced.

    Plumber advised following:

    (1) Replace single channel timeclock/programmer - type : Siemens/RwB7
    (2) New set of pump valves which are leaking badly above boiler full system drain down required
    (3) Replace boiler type expansion vessel which has heavy rusting above boiler.

Works total €390.00 incl Vat and will take approx 3 hours.

    Any thoughts?

Sounds very fair to me. He's not gonna be retiring any time soon with everything he has to pay out for..

Sounds fair,if the circulating pump is old,it would be worth considering changing that too.

Price of parts? Whats his hourly rate?

Price of parts? Whats his hourly rate?

Plumbers can quote for the job, hourly rate, or daily rate.

In this case he quoted for the job so hourly rate doesn't come in to it. He might think that it will take a few hours but if something went wrong & it takes the day then he still only gets the quote.

If he quotes an hourly rate and something goes wrong then op has to pay him per hour for as long as as it takes.

Getting a quote is usually the best way forward rather than an hourly rate
