Just booked two returns to Rome in March for 9.99 each way each.
These were €60 each way a few days ago.
Worth the cancellation gamble at 9.99. Not at 60 though, or 25 even.

You do realise you may have to fly the plane yourself :-)

Ha. I did think it was a bit odd alright. First time I ever got a price at the price that the app quoted. Just went in again there and can't get a 9.99 flight for anywhere at anytime. I had those flights ear marked for weeks and they hadn't gone down.
Humblest apologies. Not really a bargain since cancellation risk is high. And paying a higher price isn't worth the risk.

Is cancellation risk not only 2% and all cancellations have now been announced.

Cancellation risk is higher now if the stories are to be believed that the pilots are on the verge of striking over working conditions.

I wouldn't fly with Ryanair even if it was free and haven't done so for years. From the second you enter the airport until you collect your bag you are treated like $¥!+.

It's obvious you have not flown with them in years. The customer service has improved over the past few years.

Although it's crazy what happening now. You have to feel sorry for their employees, probably getting a hard time from general public.

Ryanair will carry 131 million passengers this year. Actions speak louder than anonymous internet posts. Money talks, bull***t walks.

How would 'being treated like $hit from the second you enter the airport' have anything to do with RY ??
I mean, you only have to interact with RY staff from the check-in desk on.:confused:

If the entire airport staff are treating you like ****, maybe you should look in the mirror. ;)

    once bitten twice shy.
If we get to October 2018 without anymore cancellations then i'll risk a Ryanair flight for more than say €20 again.
Its everything you stand to lose after the flight is cancelled as opposed to the cost of the flight.
Until then unless there are huge sales im off Ryanair.

After having my saturday (a week ago)6.50am flight to Rome cancelled last Friday at 9pm, I won't be booking Ryanair ever again. Booking a replacement flight with Aer Lingus has left me over €300 out of pocket.

Is this Ryan Air's new way of recruiting pilots? Is one of those cheap seats the pilot's? :D

You should get €250 off them. And they were supposed to get you a replacement with another airline. Maybe you can get the €300 off them too.

Cancellations for six weeks were announced but anyone watching the situation would realise that this could run beyond that. That said for those who are fare-followers and not really too bothered about where they go 9.99 is not an outrageous amount to bet on a flight taking place which is essentially what anyone booking on Ryanair at the moment us doing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭newspower

Gas. €9.99 Sale. I think people would be happy if they just serviced all the flights that are currently booked and not sell seats that they have not got enough pilots for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,298 ✭✭✭Snotty

Some pure BS about Ryanair on this thread and others. Treated like ****, your sole interactions with Ryanair staff are to hand them a ticket and answer yes or no if you want a sandwich, what do you want, them to kiss your hole for honoring them with your presents.
Without Ryanair over the last 15 years, I wouldn't have got to travel as much as I have and see countries for less than a taxi home from the pub.
Yes they have balls up now, but the greater the innovation the greater the chance of failures, I'll be booking again and hopping they sort out their problems soon.

...could you not have just taken the next flight over?

Had a flight cancelled for 26 November - this is going to be longer than 6 weeks...

Keep an eye on your Ryanair booking, I saw it it online, still awaiting the email.

Not much of a sale if you are not sure you can ultimately take the flight - car hired and hotel booked etc - so long as Ryanair give you 14 days notice all they have to do is rebook or refund you.

    Are they still cancelling flights?
If that's the case they 100% can't be trusted for getting you there in the future.
I thought they had given all the cancellation details out in one list. Surely they aren't still adding to that list?

    Proceed with caution.

Same as, am in the market for flights for next summer so looks like it'll have to be AL and prob get screwed on the price but at least it'll be relatively certain we can fly, that or maybe wait till all this crap by Ryanair is outta the way

None of the flights being cancelled over the winter originate or land in Dublin so no need for hysteria here. I fly mostly Ryanair but the only flights I've ever had cancelled were by Aer Lingus and Air France, and boy was it a marathon struggle to get anything back off Aer Lingus. Ryanair probably cut more corners than their rivals to cut costs so you could argue they'll screw up more often than competitors, but that's why they're the best value and don't be deluded that any flight you book with others can't be cancelled. Look at the big balls up British Airways made during the summer when all their London flights were cancelled leaving tens of thousands of people stranded.

Booked for London in January from Belfast, looks like the route is cancelled completely.
Rebooked for Knock to London, same dates, no difference really.

Heard someone on the radio saying about a €40 voucher for rebooking, is that short notice only?

I think everyone is getting €40 per flight i.e. €80 for a return flight on top of the fare refund. They are doing this ex gratia as there is no legal requirement to compensation over 2 weeks from the flight booking.

Serious feck up by Ryanair management to announce a tenner sale only to have to pay €40 to 400k flight cancellations. Tells me its all headless chicken stuff going on at Ryanair HQ at the mo.

    Happy days.

I don't think money is really a problem for Ryanair, this whole cock-up has caused the share price to drop so they bought a load of shares back now and saves themselves millions :)
Ryanair shareholders aren't worried, as long as when this is all over they still offer the cheapest flights, they customers will keep booking.

The small print on the €80 is that it has to be used on Ryanair bookings in October for flights Oct-March. Its not a cash offer.

Yep, I'll be booking flights for before March, just have to wait till I get the voucher now

Got the voucher today, as the flight was out of Belfast the voucher is in sterling, so 160 pounds and the original flight was only 40 pounds :)

I fly Ryanair every week to London. Can’t fault them. Most my flights are <50e return booked about 6 weeks in advance to Gatwick including priority boarding and the seat booking. If I was to go Aer Lingus would be 3 times more for Heathrow and 2 times for Gatwick. You can’t beat that.

People would want to take a chill pill over this cancellations thing. It’s the new water charges. People just want to be outraged over something that doesn’t really affect them that much at all.

Ryanair has made it possible for people to travel frequently without getting fleeced. That gets forgotten in all this crowd mood nonsense.

Just to point out, the Friday 9pm out of Shannon and Sunday 9am out of Stansted is still 14.99 each way despite being the second 9.99 sale in three weeks, just in case anybody was getting their hopes up
