I think its about time that so called Antifa are called out for the thugs they are with their physical assaults on those with who they disagree with. Their disgraceful antics of the last few years has indicated they need to be regarded as a violent extremist group who have zero respect for democracy.

I don't know much about them, but I don't remember hearing of them anywhere outside America.

Ive seen the videos of them wearing masks and smashing public property. I mean, is there anything else I need to know?

In fairness, at the last G20 summit in Hamburg a few weeks back they put the city into bits. There are plenty of videos online.
I know people involved in far-right and far-left groups and I despise them equally.

They're a small fairly insignificant group who right wingers like to bring out as a strawman to deflect attention in any debate about the action of extremists. If Antifa are bad then Fascism must be good.

If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Atifa are fascists.

They both just want to have a fight really. Maybe go viral for some reason. Neither much use to society.

No sypmathy for a nazi..but do you punch people you dont like? Everybody has to be treated the same under the law, its how laws work, and that guy should be charged with assault even if it was a nazi he punched.

I think the guy that punched your man there was charged.
As has the Bike-Lock Antifa guy at Berkley. Eric Clanton. Clanton is looking at 40 years in prison. AND he has pled not guilty. Which means he will be doing some serious time if found guilty.

So it is not like Antifa are "Getting away with it."

Btw OP, any comments on the Far Right guy who mowed down the counter protestors at Charlottesville? Killing an innocent girl in the process.

They hide behind the term anti fascist and call anyone who dont agree with them facist when in reality they are the ones who want to prevent others from speaking even resorting to violent means to achieve that, thats the definition of someone who's a facist, if they dont agree with what someone says then why don't they try arguing the points being made rather than shutting down the debate completely.

    What's wrong with punching Nazis?

Just from that one sentence I could make an educated guess about you. I was just commenting about the world spitting in half in another thread, into left versus right. Doesn't even matter ehat the issue is anymore, its just "us versus them".

So I'd hazard a guess that you are.......pro-immigration, pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, (in terms of American politics) you would be pro-democrat/anti-republican, pro gun control, pro public spending, pro-socialist healthcare and on and on.

just for the laugh, I mentioned 7 different things there, how many was I correct about?

And if I'm close to the mark, jesus, what happened to our country? What happened to being an irish person with irish points of view? When exactly did America take over plitcial discourse here?

Also as I mentioned in another thread, we are setting ourselves up for another world war in the most efficient way possible, there are only 2 sides and the other side is the absolute enemy. Not only is it weird, its kinda scary to realise just how little identity most people have. You might be different though!

    What's wrong with punching Nazis?

It leads to retaliation by Nazis and people start dying. Like at Charlottesville.
That's the end game of all this.

At Charlottesville, the Neo-Nazis came armed because they knew Antifa would be likewise armed.

Better to humiliate, lampoon and ridicule Nazis and their ideology.
That's how the BNP were finished off in the UK.

    What's wrong with punching Nazis?

What's wrong with punching a Nazi who is using physical force? Nothing; fair play to you.

Punching someone who has Nazi views because you're a thug, and thug's gotta thug? Not cool.

Same deal for someone with Communist views. If there's a band of communists marching on Leinster House going to take it over, feel free to do whatever in your means to stop them, but if you feel it's okay to beat someone up simply because they're a Communist, you're an arsehole. Worse, you're a politically motivated arsehole.
