    Hey guys,

Looking for a good rain jacket, totally waterproof job! Anyone know of any sales on? Now when I say good I mean at the Goretex level. I'm sick to the teeth of the 30 euro *grand* jackets that can take a small shower but nothing else :pac:

    Barry.

Regatta have a new shop in Blanchardstown SC if you're up that way. You'll also find Mountain Warehouse up there and they nearly always have a sale on. Also TKMaxx if you're feeling lucky & 53 Degrees North is beside it.

Would Regatta be considered 'as Goretex' quality as per OP request??

Would Regatta be even do 'waterproof' jackets???? I never seen them featured in any adverts for all-weather kit etc!!

Regatta do a range of fabrics, including Isotex. Can't comment on how it compares to Goretex but I have had several Regatta jeckets and all have withstood wind & wind driven rain

If you want a really waterproof, breathable jacket, look at Keela. You can find them on ebay etc

Thanks for all the replies folks! I haven't actually tried TkMaxx yet, could be a good spot to find a gem.

By a 'good' jacket, I meant something with well-known waterproofing protection like Goretex. Saw a nice Berghaus one in GreatOutdoors for 280 so I just need to get something like that at a reasonable price :P

I have 3 goretex jackets & they are good but there are other options. Goretex does have problems with wetting out & needs regular reproofing.

Craghopper on Amazon is the cheapest, known brand goretex. Bare in mind that the price varies between single & dual layer goretex.

    speaking of TK maxx

I picked up a nike ACG Gore Tex jacket in the cork one about 8 years ago - probably the best jacket I ever bought and I still have it.

Lovely stuff. I was actually looking at Craghoppers and they seem like very good value. Yeah, goretex is very confusing with all their different brands.

I have had a pair of Merrell Goretex hiking shoes for a few years now and they are simply amazing.
