City Tax on B & B

    Hi, I booked accommodation through bookings.com
    The price was X amount. When I got my confirmation booking 10% city tax was added on. I know 9% VAT is included in the price. What is this 10% city tax and can it be deducted for business VAT claims. The accommodation is in Ireland and it does not have a direct website to book

    Its nonsense, that's what it is. We have no such thing in Ireland.

    There's either an error or either booking.com or the B&B owner are trying to pull a fast one as most other countries in Europe have one (UK excluded)

    Thanks, That's what I thought. I tried ringing the accommodation earlier and there was no reply. I'll ring them now and ask them and say that I'm looking for a VAT invoice. I'll let you know how I get on
