Vrt problem

My son bought a car from the north ,the customs pulled him over and fined him and said he has 30 days to pay the vrt ,he nearly has all the money together but needs a few more days if he makes the appointment for the date he will have all the money will the revenue even tho it's over the 30 days will he be okay is there someone he has to ring to explain his case .would they take the car off him

why didn't he wait till he had all money to pay vrt ? seems a bit silly in fairness - he knew the procedure surely

So long as he books a date within 30 days then he should be ok.

He couldn't get a date within the 30 days so that's the problem now ,it's five days over

Well the fact that he should have had the money to pay the VRT from the start but hasnt is silly, he risks having the car taken off him and pay even more moeny to get it back.

If Customs have pulled him and fined him then it's very likely they have the car's registration on the system and when he goes to present the car for VRT payment outside the initial 30 day rule, VRT penalties will be added to the original VRT figure also. And I'd say if Customs pull him over again he will be walking home.

No that's not the case ,your speculating now,I have been in contact with customs and because he has booked the vrt past the thirty days he will be okay thanks for all your advice and the silly comments .if you can't be helpful and want to be critical when a member here just asks for advice you should not comment ,I'm sure you can move onto the next person now and find someone to verbally abuse .
