Recently adopted a pup from a rescue centre. Today he seems of form and I noticed his gums a very pale. He's very lil interest in playing with my other dog which is unusual as he is usually full of energy and always up for a play fight. Does this sound like it's anything to worry about?

Vet visit this morning. Pale gums should definitely be checked out

Good spot, sounds like a vet visit is required!

Paid a visit to the vet an hour ago. He feels all is ok. He said he could run blood tests if I wanted or he appears to be off form over the next day or two. I'll keep an eye on him and will bring him back for tests if he is out of sorts. He's perked up since so I'm not overly concerned. I may have over reacted but better safe then sorry especially when I don't know his history.
    Thanks for advice.

Apparently so but I'm not very confident as they said he was microchipped . Turns out he wasn't chipped so I'm in a ponder about weather to vaccinate him. I'd be concerned he was and don't want to over vaccinate so I'm thinking I'll get him vaccinated by my vet in 3 months when he's a year old. Seemingly his records have been mislaid by the rescue centre. I'm still doing a bit of research on it. I can't afford the titre test.

ok. I would have blood tests done.if you are not confident the rescue vaccinated him, i wouldn't take a risk - by the time Parvo is being noticed through vomiting and diarrhea, it is often too late. His records have been mislaid by the rescue center? Can you advise which part of the country he comes form?

you could always have him titre tested (if the vet uses Axiom labs they stock vaccicheck) to see if he has immunity if you're worried about over vaccinating.

I discussed this with my vet. I just can't afford it. They got a quote for me and it is costing over 300 euro.

Yes maybe your right. He is back to his usual self again. But it is worth considering getting the bloods done for the sake of 100 euro. I got him in the east. I'd prefer not to go into details of where I got him as I don't want to bad mouth a rescue centre, as they are under so much pressure etc. I think maybe he just slipped through the system.

    They're not quoting for the right thing/don't know there's a kit - it's €50-60

I asked about the titre test. They checked with the lab for a price. Was told 300 euro. What other titre test is there?

Ok - thats fine of course and the info for location excludes the one I had in mind. Re titre test - i'm not sure who your vet is but if they are quoting 300 euro for a  simple titre tests I'd swiftly find another vet because you are being seriously ripped off.

There's basically the expensive one that you're being quoted (I was too lol) for but there's also a kit that some labs stock (Axiom do) called Vaccicheck and that only costs €50-60. BTW I only know the lab my local vets uses because Bailey gets blood tests at least every 6 months and the vet would mail me a copy of the results. She's in a different practice now that uses a different lab.

Its very strange that the rescue rehomed him without any vac records.

Not drinking or piddling any more than usual. He has bounced back to himself again. I will keep a close eye on him and if I have any concerns will bring him back ASAP for bloods. But, for now all is back to normal.

Keep an eye on his stool to make sure there is no blood in it
