    Hi All.

I have a teak front door from Munster Joinery from circa 2003.

The orange/brown seals on the door and in the frame have some wear from people passing in/out the doorway. (see photos)

Where can replacement seals be purchased?
    How much do they cost?
and are they easy to install?

I got replacement seals for a 1990 wooden Munster Joinery door from the company a few years ago. Give them a ring and they may be able to help.

I was onto them last year some time and the replacement seal was €0.50 per foot (plus postage i presume if you can't collect) and I think they were charging €70 for them to call out to fit it.

Fitting was simply pushing it into existing groove. Yours may be different. Can't tell from photo. Check how easy it is to dislodge the existing seal and you will get an idea of how difficult it is to replace.

Ya munster have a large maintenance division - some would say for obvious reasons.
If you have to get service guy out, make it worthwhile by getting any dodgy window hinges replaced also.

They charged me 70 quid to come out and fix things that were on my snag list cos I left it a couple of years to chase them. More fool me for paying it but I needed it done and they wouldn't budge.

that's hardly fair. how are they to know that these issues are genuine issues from the install and not new out of warranty issues. I don't know any company that would fix for free in a case like that

Because they were on the snag list they had on file from the install. They did half of the list shortly after we moved in and were due to return with parts on a later date and never did until I got around to calling them a couple of years later.

The issues were all installation-related such as lack of thumb-screw locks on the doors internally and one door that was hung crooked and left a gap in the seal. Warranty on the units is ten years anyways but I still had to pay for the callout.

fair enough. if they knew about the issues then its bad form not to come back and fix them.

why did you pay them. let them do the job and then tell them its a snag list issue and to get their manager to ring you

    Thanks everyone.
I'll give them a call. Would be easy to fit I think. It puses into the groove on the door and frame rather easily.
    I don't need 50 metres of it though :-)
    Anywhere online sell smaller rolls?

Wouldn't come out without me paying up front over the phone.

They genuinely wouldn't budge on the issue. In a nice way, they sort of told me it was my fault for not chasing them to come back sooner during the immediate aftermath of the build.

In fairness - I found out the guy who originally was doing the snagging died suddenly leaving a young family behind I believe. So there was a genuine reason for him not coming back or his work not being followed up on. I felt pretty bad for feeling hard done by when I found that out. :(

I got the seal for my door from
    www.windowanddoorparts.ie/shop/door-parts/brown-door-seal-timber/

Bit more expensive than from Munster Joinery themselves, about an extra €1 per metre. Munster joinery sell it by the metre too and you could collect it in their Ballydesmond office.

No idea of price but give this company a call. I find them great to deal with.
