    Hi
I have sky q tv, switched today from sky broadband to eir broadband. Guy who came to install the fibre line hooked up an eir router but sky q box wouldn't connect, neither would a few other devices. Have put back in the sky q router and all seems OK. Does it make a difference or is a router just a router? The eir one isn't better or anything?

You cant change credentials on the Sky Hub and its likely they'll have yours disabled within a week at which point itll be useless.

So I may hook back up eir router?

Open to correction on this but if you're a Sky fibre/bb subscriber your SkyQ box works through the Sky Hub/router, but if you now subscribe to another broadband provider then the SkyQ box uses its own mesh network for multiroom etc. and I assume it must be updated with your new WiFi network credentials to connect to the new router for internet connectivity.

I don't have SkyQ so can't describe how you can do this with your new setup, maybe post over in the satellite forum and/or the Talk to Sky forum to get more accurate information.
