How many xrays are too many?

I need extensive restoration work. Quite a few implants as well as a bone graft/sinus lift. Seeing as there's a lot of risk and cost involved I really want to make sure I choose the right clinic. I've been to 2 so far and have booked consultations in 3 others on the same day seeing as I'm limited in how many days I can take off work. I thought it was a good idea to do a few in the one day and was delighted I was able to get appointments. It's just occurred to me now that it might be dangerous, seeing as I'd end up getting a lot of x rays and expose myself to too much radiation in one day? Is this a valid concern or am I being ridiculous?

Most X-rays now are digital, just ask for a copy on a disc/memory stick.

Dental X-rays release a small amount of ionizing radiation. A small in the mouth X-ray gives you about the same radiation dose as 30 minutes at altitude in an plane (high up you get more background cosmic radiation which is exactly the same.)

There really is no problem with multiple X-rays especially today with digital X-rays where the dose is lower still due to more sensitive sensors.

    "Don't really do that"!!

The clinic own the X-ray but you have the right to a copy.

If anyone asks me for their X-rays for a second opinion, to show a mate or whatever, I email them on. I have nothing to lose and nothing to hide. Patients like openness, refuseing to give the info results in them going elsewhere....
