Advice on back boiler and new regulations

    Hi,

We have an old back boiler (gas fire) which we have had serviced every year since we moved into our house back in 2012. Never had any problems or issues with it. I rang a plumber (that we haven't used before) to have it serviced before the winter and he said if he comes out to service that type of boiler he will have to put a hazard notice on it and ring the gasworks to inform them that it is unsafe? He said this is due to new regulation which was brought in this year and recommended that we get a new boiler/fire. We were planning on doing this but not for a while due to the cost.

I think we are going to get a second opinion on it as it seems very extreme to me (in terms of a hazard notice?). Does anybody know anything about these new regulations or can anyone offer any advice? He hasn't even come out to look at the fire yet so I find this all very strange!

    Thanks!
