    Just buy ram upgrade, and usb ethernet adapter.

    I was thinking this too. I suppose the CPU will be fine? It's an i3 6th gen.

    I'll open her up at the weekend and see if the RAM is easy to replace.

    They didn't make cpus much faster over last few generations, they just made them more power efficient. You are gonna be plugged in while running vms etc so this doesn't really matter.

    Yeah it's an i3, maybe it will be slow. TBH I find running vms painful on any laptop, I use cloud or workstation instead.
