Bluetooth Fire Pit!

It doesn't seem to be stainless or vitreous enamelled so I guess its just high temperature paint which will start to burn off after the first use and rust will set in.

I wouldn't pay that money for it, you could probably get close to it with any fire pit using a couple of pieces of high quality stainless tube with holes drilled in it and a couple of cheap chinese fan starters http://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-BBQ-Air-Blower-Fan-for-Outdoor-Barbecue-Grill-Campfire-Fireplace-/132334528149?hash=item1ecfc0a695:g:dw0AAOSwVgtZwIEQ the squirrel cage fan in the kickstarter one would be quiter I imagine.

I also reckon you could get a similar effect with no electronics using convection by simply having a small number of air tubes coming in from underneath the fire pit.

...called rocket stoves. If you gasify the fuel you remove the smoke. It's all about airflow and operating temp.

Thanks for the input. Yeah the whole electronic/bluetooth thing I'm not mad on. So many of these kickstarter things have somewhere to charge your phone now, surprised there's not a phone that will charge itself at this stage :pac:

That's interesting about the convection, that's how stove fans work, right? I guess channeling the air back down is the challenge.

In saying all that, it is still a nice little pack to be able to have handy if you want it!

Ive yet to see any steel fire pit not rust after a week, then fall apart within months

Noisy from what? The fan? I wouldn't think so, not more noisy than a fire would be anyway?

Seems to be a few concerns about rusting and build quality in the comments too, but you can only comment if you back it, which I'm not prepared to do at the mo, plus shipping will be expensive!

Sir Liamalot, do you use something like this in your set up? What do you mean by gasify? :)

    Clicky

Gasifying is burning all the particulate. Super hot.

Can definitely see the practicality of that for heating an enclosed space, but something like the pit has a much more appealing visual and seems a bit more suited to outdoor type set ups with food and everything thrown on. If I knew it wasn't going to rust through after a short time I'd be definitely interested!
