    Hi

The stop start function has suddenly stopped on my Opel Insignia.

Was working fine up to a few days ago, battery is fine, all air/demister/air con switched off and double checked as this effects the stop start kicking in.

Any clues or is it off to the garage with it?

    Thanks a lot

It doesn't necessarily always come on. It depends on certain conditions as the system is designed to save fuel. If the temperature outside isn't at a minimum temperature and the heater is on or things like air conditioning, etc that put extra drain on the battery then it will not come on. It's very possible that one of these conditions has put the stop/start system into off mode.

Something that caught me out before on a corsa, the position you have the air flow for the demister can disable stop start. If it's in the demist position fully it won't stop, move the dial to have the air pointed at your upper/lower body see if that will cut it.

Good riddance imo. Stop/Start is an utterly useless feature and I'm sure you won't see any difference in calculated fuel consumption.

Can't offer any potential fixes btw sorry!

The stop/start stopped working on my wife's Auris about 10 months before the battery died. The car started perfectly every time except for the last month or so when it would take a little longer to start. One morning the car just wouldn't turn over and the battery was dead. I charged it up but it wouldn't hold the charge. Fitted a new battery and stop/start started working again.

Battery is probably under a certain percentage of capacity.
