    Hi
I will be using about 1150 blocks for a garden shed, Room.
    dimensions 4400mm x21.5 100mm.(4 inch solids)

They will be laid flat not on their edge to build a garden shed.

The solid concrete base is already in place.

They blocks will be laid flat on wide sides for density so 25 blocks high so about 2.5 high.

I am not sure how much sand and cement will be required .

plus I see many types .

paving sand i guess it not paving sand

normal plastering sand is this for rendering only ?

mortar sand I guess it might be this ,?

they all cost the same per Tonne (1000kg)

If i use plastering sand all around will this be better , then the wall can be plastered outside for the finish, and less waste.would this be okay.

also what additives should be used so mix is more workable and weather proof
    and what quantities:.

    thanks

Someone check my calcs because its been a long day, but roughly.

Length Width Depth Total / m3 No. of Sides Total / m3
    0.44 0.1 0.01 0.00044 2 0.00088
    0.215 0.1 0.01 0.00022 2 0.00043

    Total per block (M3) 0.001310
    No of Blocks 1150.00
Sub Total m3 of Mortar 1.51
    Allow 15% wastage 0.23
    Total m3 of Mortar 1.73

assuming standard 4:1 ratio sand and cement
    Sand 1.39 m3
    Cement 0.35 m3

Cement 1m3=1500kg so 519.7425 kg of cement
    20.7897 bags (25kg bag)

Sand 1m3=1600kg so 2217.568 kg 2.217568 ton of sand

    Hi
I used 36 hour trowel ready ix as its less labour intensive ) from a major supplier , and it was built with circa 20 hours labour ,with the help of my friends.

I ordered 1 cubic meter 36 hour trowel ready mix twice, 1 cubic meter each day they gave me lots extra each time, I still have lots circa 0.5 cubic meters left.

I used some of it as concrete by adding lots of gravel and cement for a damaged concrete path, way,, yikes i think this is okay ? will it set as hard as concrete.

    thx
