I would 100% not recommend one of those consultants for medical and other reasons. PM me for details.

Dr O'B is my doctor and I'm very happy with her care so far. She is very grounded and reassuring so I'm sure would be a good choice if you're anxious. I am due in a few weeks so haven't had the birth experience yet.

Thanks. I can't get through though though, is it possible to email the secretaries?

You're expecting again, beany? Wow! Congratulations!

I remember you felt quite traumatised after your baba last year, so I hope you manage not to be too anxious this time around.

Thanks catrionic!! Yep I was, or am, a bit traumatised. That's why I'm going private. Not that it's a magic solution but my GP thinks it's a good idea, and that's why I want someone kind!

Dr O'Brien is booked up and apparently it'll be hard to get a woman at this stage!! Not that I care about the Gender of the doctor, I just thought I was calling early! Any more recommendations welcome. Was offered Donal brennan

When Dr O'Brien was on holidays she was covered by Dr Higgins who I found really nice and reassuring also but I only saw him once.

Can you also look into gentlebirth or wise hippo for your birth this time?(assuming you didn't before).could help you feel better able to cope yourself.

Thanks Shesty. I did the last time - I got the app, but it went out the window when I was in there!

    Hi,

I would recommend Dr. Shane Higgins. He is a lovely man, takes his time to explain things.

Shane Higgins delivered my second baby last year. I had a premature birth on my first girl and there were other complications.

It all worked out in the end, but it was a very stressful birth. So second time around I decided to go with a consultant to be safe.

Shane Higgins also has a preterm clinic that is so helpful.

    Best of luck!!

Obviously no good to you now Beany, but for anyone else who comes across the thread, I gave birth yesterday and would recommend Fiona Martyn.

Fiona Martyn did me 2nd c section and I'm in her clinic as a public patient now. Having my 3rd and final c section end of November and she has been hugely reassuring to me as I had a lot of worries. She's also specialising in tubal ligation which is what I'm having done during this section. I would have no hesitation going with her privately.

Hi, I have been appointed with Dr. Fiona Martyn as Public. Can i change her to semi private. doe they take equal cars on semi private and private?

Also, i am going to have a C-section as the first one was the same but not here in Ireland. I am very nervous. Is she reccomended?

We are with Dr. Jenny Walsh (private) at the moment and we think she's wonderful. She's very reassuring, caring and a breath of fresh air, if I'm being honest. She's really lovely.
