    Hi
i just bought a second hand car with the tax expired 6 months ago.
the seller was straight up - its my problem to sort.
i'm about to send in the change of ownership log book.
as im going to be the new owner - can i avoid paying all the back tax?
    Thanks
    COokie

You should only be due to tax it from the month you've taken ownership. But just so you know... you'll have to pay for it from 1st September. You can't do part of a month.

you only pay the tax from the start of the month in which it went into your name.
Seller should also have kept control of logbook and sent it themselves for change of ownership.

Did you have to get a renewal form to tax your car or can you tax it online using a pin number ?
