Hi guys, i have a quick question.
I will start by saying that I don't watch or follow many programs. mainly Netflix and YouTube channels.. and sometimes the Champions League and few other games

I am currently with SKy (@€;79 x month) and trying to negotiate a better rate for same service (sky original , broadband and phone)

Virgin seem to have a pretty good offer @ € 49
(240 broadband unlimited, 50 tv channels + 18HD, unlimited calls to landline, mobiles + 400 minutes international calls)
€5 more x month for better package, more channels and 26HD (€49+5)

I don't have any experience with Virgin and I have to say that in the past 2 years the service I got with sky was good and I am happy with them

    Clearly Virgin is currently cheaper but . . . . .

Virgin have better and faster broadband and sky has a far superior tv offering. Probably depends on which you value more.

Depends on how big a Champions League fan you are. If you're happy enough with the game selected by TV3/RTE2 then you'll be alright but if you want a choice of matches etc, BT Sports isn't available on Virgin.

    thank you both.

On the Boradband. even if Virgin has a much better 1. With the Sky 1, I have been using Netflix without any issue (2 devices at the same time)

On the Champions League. I am a fan of a good game and happy to watch whatever RTE or TV3 are showing (also RTE2 is in HD and fab to wath on my telly)

The only thing left and issue maybe would be the "anythime call". Virgin has unlimited calls to Irish Mobiles and Landline. with sky i get free call 7pm to 7am and week ends

shopping around is alway smart. when you call to cancel SKY they will make you a counter offer. Tell them what your getting with VM and ask tem to beat it.

you have 14 days after signing with VM to cancel, so if sky step up to the plate you can accept a counter offer & cancel VM.

Note VM's broadband is better. For me that would be a huge factor.

That really is it in a nutshell. I often get so frustrated by Virgin’s Horizon box but ultimately the B.B. is excellent. Virgin I think could do a lot more business if they had a better set top box

were looking at going the other way around but were going to keep our Virgin Broadband and get TV from Sky

The Lack of 4K TV on Virgin is the selling point for getting Sky TV (we have 2 4k UHD TVs in the house) and the outdated Virgin media gear etc.

going by Skys site we are looking at getting 1 SKy Q 2TB Box and 1 Sky Q multi room mini q box (UHD is only available on the 2TB box)

I dont knw why Virgin have not launched 4K UHD over here yet ???
